I love Mexican Food and last month I spent the weekend underload in Las Cruces NM and pigged out on some original mexican foods. Tamales, Taco's, Refried Beans and some other stuff I can't pronounce. This was not a resturaunt, they were selling meals along side the road.
Then again in Poteau, OK there was a Mexican Lady selling Tamales down the street from the truck stop. Again I pigged out and actually bought 2-doz Tamales to bring home at my wife's suggestion.
I quit the trucking company I was working for while in NM and tried to join another. My pre-employment drug screen came back positive for marijuanna. Now, I don't smoke this stuff, never have and was completely thrown off guard from the results of the drug test.
When the MRO called me I told him something is wrong here. The MRO told me to look closely at all medications I have taken in the last few months, both precription and over the counter for the word cannibus in the ingredients. I looked at everything and found out that Ibuprofen, Advil and Protonix will cause a false positive for Marijuanna. Called the MRO back thinking I had the answer.
The Mro said NO, that the GC/MS which is a 2nd test can diferate and that my test is positive for THC. Back to looking in the internet for anything I can find that will cause this.
To make a long story short, I called the MRO again and asked if Mexican Food could cause this. After answering his questions about where, when, and who I got this from the MRO told me that Mexicans were full of marianna, both in their bodies and in the foods they eat. Dr. mentioned Hemp Oil, and other ingredients the Mexicans use that contain marijuanna or THC.
I asked the MRO if this could be the reason and his response was "definitely" Then he told me that he could not change the results of the test, that he was sorry and there was nothing he could do.
Well, I've had to get a Lawyer, had to contact a SAP for counseling and classes just to get recertified till I can clear this off my record, I cannot find a job because the BIG companies have a zero tolerence policy. I tring to find a Mom and Pop trucking outfit who will give me a break.
The reason I am posting this is because I hope to inform other drivers that eating original Mexican Food down south could ruin your career if your hit with a ramdom or a pre-app drug test.
Here's a link to a Doctor I found on the web that talks about Hemp Oil. Read it, remember it and wish this trucker luck beating this.
Note: They won't allow me to post the link. Do a search for Dr. Dean Edell about Drugwars, this should get you to the site.
Has any of you ever heard of this before, I would really appreciate any leads or information to help my case. This is wrong, your guilty till you prove your innocence these days.

You weren't guilty until the test came back positive.
Big difference from guilty until proven innocent.
Sounds like you need to go the Barry Bonds route, "I thought it was Flax-seed oil"psanderson Thanks this. -
There's also a very good possibility these days that the food could have contained some marijauna as a joke.

You'd think the cops would want to know of these places selling pot disguised as food.
Maybe a good lawyer would go to this place, buy some food & have it tested for the chemical that failed you.
Perhaps you have a receipt for that food showing a date?Lite bug Thanks this. -
The only thing Mexican food causes for me is the over use of toilet paper and some unpleasant odors.
FWIW, I only got really sick in Mexico twice in all my trips there over the years, and one of the times it was after I ate at McDonalds! -
Send me a personal message if you want the web site address.
I really thought more people would have seen this post by now, guess I put it in the wrong thread. -
I never understood purposely quitting a job before getting hired by another company. I feel that it was a bit insulting to mexican food vendors to say "MRO told me that Mexicans were full of marianna, both in their bodies and in the foods they eat." I doubt THC can be transmitted to food from the body, but I am no expert. I have never gotten high from eating mexican food either. Strange. Wonder if it was something else. The food thing just doesn't seem tangible.
psanderson Thanks this. -
To this old retired Federal DOT officer this sounds like an excuse for the wife. I heard many excuses while working for the U.S.D.O.T. but this one takes the cake!!!!!

I'm sorry for you job loss but I find this very difficult to believe.

I am married to a Mexican girl and have been eating nothing but her food for the last 5 years. Tamales are her specialty and I have the extra 30 lbs to prove it. I've been tested numerous times over the years and never even a question of this crap in the foods.
Again, this sounds like a HUGE fish story. Sorry, it is Mexican food that I love, and no story like this is going to change this. What is next, some girl gets pregnant from a swimming pool?D.Tibbitt, droy and psanderson Thank this.
