You're gonna lose fuel economy but those 710's would have been dangerous in the winter. We have those on our company trucks and they've given me a scare in the wet once or twice. I pretend the jake brake and CC don't exist if the road gets even a little damp.

I run local within 100 miles and do a lot of city with tight turns. Obviously that chews tires so I don't believe in ridiculous priced tires. I run Yokohama and do just fine. I don't believe the difference between that and Michelin is worth the price difference
IH Branded and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Michelin XDN2's are where it's at. I had XDN2 wide based on my truck from the factory. Got 447,000 out of them and still had 8-9/32 tread left and got $150 for each of them from my tire dealer. I have been using the Energy version this go around. No complaints. 217,000 into them this go around and just about at half life on tread. I consider 8-9/32 as far as I will go. Primarily because my tire dealer cuts me good deals on new and gives $150 a tire for the old. Essentially, I get 4 tires for just over over the price for 3.
It all depends on what one is doing. Some situations are going to eat tires up no matter the brand. In that case, no use paying more for tires than necessary. For the more normal stuff, the higher priced Micheliin's deliver every dime's worth of value. -
No recaps please.

Yup, true. My dunlops were that worn and I'm up in Canada. We had some rain freeze, then snow and I darn near lost it on a bridge that's 300 ft up....... new tires went on the next morning!
