We updated this morning with no problems. We have Windows Defender and AVG Anti-Virus plus Firewall.

This afternoon, we downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 3 with no problems. It think it is KB936929, and it took about 40 minutes.

They say KB951748 is not compatible with Zone Alarm. We got rid of Zone Alarm when it interfered with an AVG update months ago.

    From the ZoneAlarm webpage:
We are investigating the issue with the MS update KB951748. For the time being we suggest you uninstall KB951748 until the issue has been resolved.
We will post when we have more information.

Personally I've had several users at work pointing out some really strange web pages they've been sent to when going to regular, business oriented sites. This patch addresses problems with "finding" web sites. While there aren't any current known exploits for the problem I have a feeling, from the web sites I saw my users going to, that it might be better to disable ZoneAlarm, enable the Windows firewall and install the patch. Then keep an eye on ZoneLabs to see what they do about the problem.

Better yet, get rid of ZA and go with something better.

Zone Alarm has a fix out for the problem. Basically install an updated version. Or, like biker mentioned, get a different product.
