Anette, right after I posted some remarks you posted yours. You evidentally had someone in mind?
Let me clearify my comments on management: What is management? Managers! What is their job. To manage! Having been in management at prior jobs, I know that it is managements job to answers questions and to supply information to those in postions of prodution. That is what a manager does. I found no body posessing the title of Manager or anything else in this company that ever supplied me with the information of where my insurance money was going. Not one person in Management, that I can find took the initiative to find out why our insurance was not paying our Medical providers.
What I found at Mid-States was a ship with no captain at the helm.
Let me ask this: Did any of you in management ever once demand an asnwer? Did any of you ever once supply those who you were managing with an answer as to why? I never did find anyone. As I have stated before...I had Management, a person posessing the title of "DISTRICT MANAGER" coming to me to find out what was going on concerning our Insurance. Kind of NOT MANAGEMENT if you ask me....do you see how ironic this is! A district manager coming to a truck driver for answers!!! This is why I say, there was no management. This guy could tell Terminal mangers what to do and as important as his title sounded, he was useless as a MANAGER!!
Now can you understand why I say there was no management. From my experiences at this company, the dispatchers got more done than the Managers. You all was there so no need to go on about this.
Managers only did what they were told to do and were actually ineffective when it came to problem solving for the drivers. I don't blame management, I know what happened and how it happened. I just wish one upper manager would have had the grit to demand an answer and then had the grit to pass it along. As I stated, I passed a long info and then got jumped by so called MANAGEMENT for doing so.
Far as anger and hatred and moving on, not until someone tells me WHERE IS MY INSURANCE MONEY!!! I received a letter from a colletion agency today. To morrow, I am taking it along with other documents to the States Attorney Generals office and I am going to file charges for being defrauded. Now that is the bottom line. They offered, I paid and they did not perform. I will let the Prosecuting Attorney explain to me if that is fraud or not. If it isn't, I am going to start selling insurance!!

Bill,
I can live with that but please understand Managers in this company worked with the tools that were given to them. I am sorry if you had Managers that were not so honest with you and your team. Trust me when I say not all Managers just sat around waiting for the ball to fall. I know in the Eastern Regin we found a outside company to handle our insurance needs for the employees, we offer the employees ALFAC ... this insurance and ALFAC were NOT company funded we handle it ourselves. Once MSXN closed their doors we were able to keep our insurance as well as the ALFAC program we set up.
I fully understand of wanting to know where your money is ... I would like to know that as well. I held MSXN insurance for many years and to this day I still have bills that have not been paid. To this day I still make payments from what little employment that I get on these bills so my child doctors so he can continue to see them. I UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY !!
I can't speak for all terminal out there but I can speak for my own terminal we fought to the end not just Managers / Dispatcher but even the drivers and dockworkers. We put in countless of free hours working on trucks buying parts and then some. I know Manager out there who is still owed expense checks that they will never see because of MSXN closing their doors. These Manager hoped that day would never come and they still put money on there credit cards for parts, fuel or whatever their terminal needed. Why did they do this .... it was because they CARED about their employee group and they thought they were worth fighting for. Still to this day I still believe these employees are worth fighting for.
Someday we all might get what is coming to us until then ... we just keep fighting for our rights. -
For anyone who's looking for different angles on the company's idea of responsibility to their driver's best interests.....the Rock Island terminal had a visit from OSHA before Mid-States closed. There were violations found and penalties issued. Maybe this info can help....I'm not sure.
My terminal manager can not be contacted for employment verification, so I applaud you Annette on your efforts to help your co-workers find jobs.
Best of luck to you all!! -
I am serious if any driver out there needs a employment verification please send me a message and I will do my best to help you out atleast for the next few weeks then my contact will not be in Galena office anymore.
Baack Thanks this. -

To Anette and all victims of Mid-States express...My argument is not with any of you. Actually, I have no argument at all other than I want to know, WHERE IS MY INSURANCE PREMIUM MONEY. That is all....
Once again, Truckers Forum has provided us a great service by giving us a place to grunt and rambel, lol They operate from donations...so if you can send them a few bucks, ok?
Keep contacting government agencies and news outlets. I promise you, there are things going on we are not aware of. Our complaining has not been in vain. It just takes time and they will not tell us what they are doing, because we will get on here and tell the others...haaaaaaaaaaaaa
I had a thief steal my tools out of my pickup bed one time...it was snowy and I followed those tracks until they disapeared. I remember how angry I was to have my tools stolen. Can you imagine, and I know you can,,, how angry I am at having thousands of dollars taken from me in good faith only to find out that it was used for some other purpose than why it was collected? Now, this is just venting, I know and not producing anything positive so I will end this.
I will be back on here Monday with an update about my trip to the local authorities...I know once they hit the Feds it will end for them, but, where there is smoke there is fire. Stir the pot, let yourself be heard.Baack Thanks this. -
Lets not confuse caring managers with clueless managers.
I am sorry in my eyes a caring manager would have eventually stood up and demanded answers. Lost their job yes.
Lets face it Msxn was able to defraud people because they were allowed to get by with it. The minute you saw your insurance not being used you should have stopped paying for it. The minute managers bills not being paid and felt the need to pay for things with personal credit cards, they should have demanded answers. The only thing continuing to take the insurance and paying for company expenses out of your pockets did was enable them not to pay their bills and basically steal more.
In my eyes people that continued to take the insurance and managers who paid the bills with personal credit cards were all enablers. Managers that paid the bills and did not demand answers were one of two things. One did not know any better, or Two knew better but wanted to remain YES MEN and Women. They did not care about the employee group they just did not want to have to confront MSXN, for fear of their jobs.... Hmm I am thinking you lost your job any way. At least if you had been fired you could have said you left with your dignity in tack.
Although I am harsh with what I said, I will again say Msxn had no right to do this and everyone is due what is owed to them. -
I worked out of the Indianapolis terminal,I was working for a company that sold out to saia they offered me a good paying driving position doing local deliveries but i was driving a yard truck for a contract the company had and Saia didnt want to do this work, so in comes Mid States they interview me ,the terminal manager it was the fastest interview iv ever been thru in 30 plus yrs driving.
I should have right then went to Saia but i had a nice yard job home everyday 8 hrs a day finally something i enjoyed after I had retired.
MS told me I would keep the same job just switch companies, in the interview I asked about the insurance terminal Manager kinda put his head down and mumbeled something like slow pay the guy that was with him a some guy in a suite said what did you say , he looked over at me and said no probs all is well good insurance so I signed on.
I was retired wife works but she didnt carry insurance because i could get it cheaper well after almost a year i had to get some medical things done
close to 3k when all said and done and well you know how that turned out
making payements now trying to, one of the office people also told me that go ahead use it they had there medical paid for i could go on and on but i do no that the terminal mgr there i liked him he is a good guy i didnt see him much i worked away from the terminal, he paid for things to be done to the trucks, his own money, even told me where to go to get diff insurance when i told them to stop taking money out of my check, I did get the papers from the class action sent them to my creditors or medical places i owe so far i havent heard. but I would like to know where my premiums went.
I did get a weeks vacation before i left paid then came back and quit after I heard alot about what was going on , I went by the terminal in April, locks on the gates all the tractors and trailers are there but locked up. -
ANNETTE, I think what might have started the static with you was when you defended CJ. He might not have been typical with you, or maybe you were not around him as much as alot of people were, but you have to remember he made enemies throughout the whole msxn system, and back! Just posting the words he did lately takes his credability to new lying levels. I dont want to play the 'you got nicer treatment 'cause of gender' card, but its history repeating itself with him/er. Thats no intended offense to you, but i know him, worked with him, and like i said i know him. Happy to have any help from you if you arent a poser for info, good luck.

I call it like I see it ... I defend no one on here. What I said about Chris is the truth, I worked w/ him for a year after he left Madison before he went to Chi/Las. It is what it is .... I give Chris credit for the things I learn early in my career at MSXN, I am sorry not everyone knew or enjoyed working w/him like we did in Columbus.
That is all I have to say regarding Chris... As w/ all the employees that worked w/ MSXN I will help anyone I can in anyway I can.... all they have to do is send me a message through the moderator and they will send me a message.
Some people think that Management team should have stepped up there and demand answers from the Brothers and possibly lose our jobs. Well I all I can say is ... I was honest w/ the people in Columbus and I have made great friends w/ the employee group in Columbus that will last a life time but I would have never lost my job for them and they know that as well as they would never lost their job for me. That is just something you don't ask someone to do.
If I am consider a YES woman then that is what I am because I did my job and I passed the information on that was shared w/ the managment in Columbus. Well that was my job .... was I right ... was I wrong... that is for me to decide not anyone else.
I have many questions that will never be answered so I have to just live w/ that.
