When I was a kid my 2nd CB was a Midland 13-883 23ch. I had it "tuned" was kicking around 15wts, I had the SWR on a base loaded, roof mount flat. I was looking around ebay and seen that someone has one for sell. If I were to buy this for around $15-20, would it be worth it. I'm thinking of having it later for when I get out on my own in a truck. I would have someone try to tune it up.

Just go buy a 40 ch new and if you want power get a small amp ..... -
I never said I measured it. The technician that done the work did. No he was no fly-by-night, was an electronics engineer, designed and built, Ham operator. Like I said I was a kid around 16 yrs old, which was only 36yrs ago now.
I already have a 40ch, a Cobra 29. Sorry I asked !!! -
I guess my question should have just been, now days with the lack of CB shops and good honest techs, would it be possible to get one "tuned" similarly today? I even spotted a Turner M+2U amplified mic like the one I had on it. It's more of a nostalgia thing for me..

I don't think any 23 channel radio is worth $15-$20, especially when you can buy used 40 channels for that amount, but then again they say value is in the eye of the buyer.
Not sure if any of todays "CB techs" would know how to work on that radio since it's at least 35 years old....here's the CB tricks page to that radio, with schematics and owners manuals....http://www.cbtricks.com/radios/midland/13_883/index.htm
Oh yeah....here's a vintage advertisement for your CB...looks like it was the $134 one...

Thank you very much for that information. I've only owned 3 CBs in my life. My first was a Johnson Messenger 123, and then the one I own now.
I may not purchase it. I'm waiting to see if the bid goes up much more. I just checked the the Turner mic is already more than I want to pay for it. Even though I really like the radio, I too will not spend much for one.
Again thank you, really appreciate your help.
