It could be... you are a bit farther from the heavy boom areas than I was referring to.
The money is always going to better where demand is highest. The thing is that you can work down here in a fringe area...possibly going into the boom areas but coming back out. Jobs in the fringe areas are harder to come by, but they pay just as well and you have the experience to get one. That was the point I was trying to make. -
Again, the ONLY reason people are in Midland/Odessa and North Dakota rather than comfier, nicer, cheaper areas like Corpus and San Antonio is because the money is better. Period. It's really the most basic of economics.
As for specific companies that pay more in Midland/Odessa than Corpus? Try most of them. Either direct hourly pay, percentage, added per diem, or sheer work available.
But since you asked for just one example, I'll bite: take Pilot Logistics. In Midland/Odessa they pay their transport drivers about $4/hour more than Corpus AND the drivers here log 10-30 more hours/week with added yard time.
The result is obvious= more money.
Again, oil jobs do not pay the same everywhere. Sorry man, but it's not even debatable.H-Town Thanks this. -
Cool... You win.
