I'm just sick of ######## about it I can't change what other people do prices are crazy and people are going to move them even at $.50 a mile so the only one making money off me now is the load boards and insurance
But I'll tell you one thing when I do leave I'm staying gone for a while my wife is driving me crazy and can't get any sleep with the kids jumping on me..LOL -
I am planning on staying with LS. I don't think I will have any problems getting the loads, I'm more worried about the rates changing. But I'm going to work on some ideas and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the offer tho

Well as far as rates go I think they can only get better...when I started doing this Les and a couple of others said that rates were low, so i am thinking after the election they should go up.
I honestly don't see LS trucks in the Indiana/Ohio Mills ... But like I said the PA agent in US Steel (Pittsburgh area) will be able to tell you betterSHC Thanks this. -

I do remember back a year and a half ago going to the Detroit area A LOT from the Chicago area and then right back with steel from Detroit. Out of Chicago would be a mix of stuff and it would vary on pay. Usually 700-1000 to the truck without F/S and the same coming right back. I would sometimes be able to leave Chicago early AM, off-load, get a reload, and be back in Chicago or that whole area that night for my delivery in the AM the next morning. Keep in mind that 700-1000 is what I was told the truck was making for my % pay so it was possibly more and that is not including the F/S. You could do well running that lane as long as the freight stayed at a constant year round which I doubt for that I would haul up to the Detroit area.
SHC Thanks this. -
I am not doubting that TMC was getting those rates. I do think it is unlikely that many others would be able to do so on a consistent basis. You may be able to do $700 + FSC from Chicago/Northern IN on a fairly regular basis. I feel the market rate from Detroit to Gary would probably be closer to $500 + FSC. Those are the types of lanes where TMC would get the best rates. They focus on customers that need a lot of trucks every day and they are able to do very well in markets like this. I am assuming you were normally hauling steel, but if you had to use those big tarps that could also have something to do with it.
Just my opinion. -
Steel was always from the Detroit area and back out to the Chicago area. Going up was sometimes steel, sometimes shingles, and sometimes insulation. 90% of what I brought back was tarped steel loads, coils usually. Like I said though the most money was in the summer usually with insulation going up and I know that freight does not stay constant year round up to that area.
I do agree Pape with the amount of trucks having available to a customer up there making the rates different for us. I would think that it would take some time but once established those rates that I saw could be done. Just have to find those customers and L/S brokers.
