not sure if that is good mileage or not maybe something lower, not sure

and a trailer like this one, spread axle (cause of the 20k limit) that is a slider with dump bags

i have been driving for 8 or 9 years i don't know for a while anyways. was raised around 18 wheelers dad and grand father both O/O's. i have never delt with brokers before. i have the cash to purchase the truck and my dad is wanting to purchase the trailer in florida similiar to the one above. this still leaves me a nice nest egg just in case anything happens. (break downs) i drive a 387 now and have put some serious miles on it since i have started driving it and no break downs. just regular pm's... would it be possible to purchase truck and trailer get what i got to get except authority and run for someone else under there authority till i can scope out and find some good brokers... i never run north. from spring to fall i run alot of coast to coast... chicken out produce back... ever now and then i will pull a load of cheese back from cali to mo... but in the winter time i just stay south out of ice and snow, owners choice. not mine... is it still possible to make the green running under someones elses authority till i can learn more dealing with brokers or not. and who would be a good company to use there authority and what do some of them charge to do something like this... not looking for a large company...

    your opinions thanks jugg

FInd you a friend with there authority. When we had ours we had a few frinds leased on. There agreement was basicly they are in full controll of running there business and we just took a few percent for paperwork and such. If they hauled a load I booked then we charged a little bit more. I forget the percentages now, it was 10 years ago.

I'd say put it on with landstar. you can run any loads you want then they don't book loads for you. Not sure how their temp controlled freight is though, if they even have any. I got out of refers when we got rid of the trucks, it's been a long time.

That's a nice truck with a fresh overhaul. I say go for it. Better yet buy it and put a driver in it... Did I mention I'm looking for a job? lol:biggrin_25524:
