Waiting for a truck is not uncommon with Swift. I recently had an experience with this. I went on hometime for 8 days, and turned in the truck per their regulations. When I came back, no truck. My 8 days turned into 3 weeks. I was put on the waiting list along with all the newbies and students. There's no preference given for experienced drivers. I understand your frustration completely.
Oh they have plenty of trucks just sitting and waiting. Seems to be the norm here lately with a lot of drivers. Five days to get a repair done on my truck then lousy 150 mile run that don't pick up until AM. Hmmm WTH Swift?????????? Most likely your husband will be out within the next week. You do realize they hold back a week right?
Slip seating and extra wait time for a truck are why he plans on staying out 3 weeks and only taking 3 days (if they'll let him). If he does the family plan for 12 days he'll still only stay home 2 or 3 so he doesn't get stuck and they'll see he does want to work. If he leaves tomorrow, beginning of a pay period, he'll get the first $500 on the 26th. For every day he has to wait before going with the trainer he will lose $71.43 per day. I'm hoping that once he tells them the situation with money, or lack of, they will either get him out tomorrow or within a day or two and let him stay at the hotel while he waits.
If I am not mistaken I believe once he gets on the mentor's truck he could get a advance if needed. tell him to call up there and bug them daily until they find him a mentor. maybe you will get lucky and they have him stay in the motel.Hang in there and hope he gets out soon. let us know
We don't know for sure that he won't be in a truck tomorrow. They just told the class they didn't know if there would be enough trucks or mentors for everyone tomorrow. I'm hoping there will be more than a few there and, since my husband has more experience than most others in orientation, he'll get to go out. I'll keep ya'll updated. Keep us in your thoughts (and prayers if you do 'em). We've got to have money coming in sooner rather than later.
Apparently they sent home all the "experienced" drivers today cause they had no trucks for them. The "newbies" got to stay til tomorrow and take a Qualcom class and, hopefully, get their driver code and go out. If they don't go out tomorrow they'll be sent home for the weekend and go back Monday. If he has to wait til Monday we won't get a paycheck til 8/2 but we'll get to see him for a few days. If he goes out tomorrow he'll get paid 7/26 but we won't see him for 2 weeks. As much as I would love to see him....we need money more right now. So, I'm praying that he goes out tomorrow!
