    Lyrics:

    "And it's trucker speed, benzedrine
    Percocets, amphetamines
Black beauties and west coast turnarounds
When the coast is clear I drive with my knees
I mix it all up like a recipe
Coca-cola and coffee to wash it down
Sometimes I feel like my wheels ain't touchin' the ground"

Smokey and the bandit was actually my favorite movie growing up. My dad grew up towards the end of that “Golden era” so I was lucky enough to get exposed to a lot of that. I don’t think I’ve ever watched white line fever though so I’ll have to look that up. It’s definitely cool to see the history of it and how it once was. It’s crazy to see just how much trucking and people’s perception of it have changed. I’ve been so worried about the future of trucking it’d probably do me some good to look back at it during its prime.

Back in those days a guy named Mike Parkhurst owned Overdrive Magazine. Any guys from that era reading this will probably remember that name, he was a strong advocate for the owner operator. Anyway, below is a a few magazine covers and ads, and link to a photo alblum of old Overdrive magazines from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

Overdrive Magazine | modeltrucks25 | Fotki.com, photo and video sharing made easy.

Question abut those 9470s. What were JB's power train specs and did these have the huge dog house or were they flat floor?

I don't think International built a model 9470? Are you referring to the 9670? The 9670 would be the JB Hunt truck in the picture above with the set forward steer axle . I recall seeing them advertised for sale and if memory serves me They had Cummins Big Cam 4's set at 315 hp with a 9 or 7 speed transmission. That was common fleet specs for the late 1980's.

The 9700's (setback steer axles) had Cummins M11's set in the low 300 hp range with 9 speed transmissions.

Oh, and yes the 9670 had a "huge dog house".
