Not when you add it all up. What little bit extra often goes for fixed overhead ( being higher) when I take time off (only 1 truck) Just like all trucking a little more responsibility and headache a little more money. I used to only worry about Truck everything else was covered by Carrier except HVUT . Always had the aluminum shined up!!! Very little overhead fixed costs making time off easier.

was doing a power only load and I get 70% of the gross well was talking to another guy that had his own authority so he gets 100% and he was acting proud that he was making more money anyways a little later in our conversation come to find out the load payed me 1350 and I got 70 % Which is $945.00 ....... except the other guy was getting 100 % but of 850.00 which is the gross that the agent and landstar payed to outside contractor. .... so % is fine you just need to know % of what is more important than what %

Wouldn't move my truck for less than $3pm for high flat plus $25 per hr to load unload tarp and untarp.
$3.50 pm up for 8 axle low bed set up. They pay all permits, escorts and to load and unload. I get hung up because of road restrictions the pay hotels. Was a comfortable living, loved what I did most of the time. Retired 2 years ago, and on paper should be very comfortable until they plant me.
Basically all I can tell new drivers is very little because Trucking Today isn't anywhere near what it was 10 years ago let alone 50+years ago. What I can say that's 100% the only way you will make it is
Keep your mouth shut and your eyes and ears open. Never take anyone or anything for Granted. Never think you know everything or think you seen everything because you never will. Never give into road rage or ####### drivers cars on up to rigs. These idiots today will shoot you sorry ###. Never leave your house to go on the road and forget to bring your COMMON SENSE with you. That is more important then anything.
