Iam going to ask about that, Iam going to see if they will OSUT me for a 88M (truck driver). There is know way Iam going back to AIT since mine was 5 months long and I just got back.

Anyhow, the company I work for makes roads and they have mixers, dump trucks, and two lowboys as well as a few side dumps. I was going to see about going off of them to drive but Iam not sure how easy it will be. I havent been with them that long.

Units will not OJT anymore and most will make you stay in your current MOS for 1 year (guard/reserve) You will need to go to a 2 week school and work that MOS for awhile before you get that MOS awarded. Keep in mind that an 88 Mike formerly a 64 Charlie is a critical MOS and often you will be snagged to go to Iraq with that MOS even if your company does not deploy.

while notarps is right about ojt for 88m talk to your comander about it. however as an 88m i will recomend not. notarps also hit iraq on the head if you want go to iraq become 88m another route is to volunteer to go to iraq as a truck driver and then the reclass would be on your deployment orders. so you get time twards your 2 years on orders for your extra 1k a month.

the big thing is talk to your comander and training nco and see what they can do.

I have been out of the guards for 15 yrs and I know things have changed but it looks like you are getting some great advice on how to get all you can out of the military. Just keep asking questions to your superiors in the Guard and you will get what you want hopefully. petesout

I agree with that. I do nothing but ask questions. I may just end up going on orders, they offered me a job in the allied trades building fabricating parts for the mechanics.
