It was called a FNAEB (pronounced FEE-NAB) and it includes a visit with the admiral. Often by that point it's a formality as there's no possible way to justify what happened.

 

But Admiral, i thought i put down the arrestor hook!

In the civilian world we would call that a visit from the “We’re here to help you” folks at the FAA and/or the NTSB!

 

I know that. Said in jest. The pilot may have done traps on a carrier in his/her career.

 

If they did,then landing on a fixed runway should’ve been a cakewalk!!

 

Most Naval Air Stations have Arrestor Cable setups on at least one runway to allow student pilots and pilots in for refresher training to do "traps". A lot cheaper than sending them to a fleet training carrier, which the Navy currently does not have assigned.
