I have millenicom as well and it's been great. Don't forget to use the USB Y cable to double the power input. It doubles my speed as it boosts the receiving power by using both ports. That in conjunction with an antennae is probably the best setup, though I don't have an antennae yet.

Are you guys saying it's not unlimited? I just got it and for the purposes of videoconferencing with the kids. Got them cameras for the laptops and seems to work really well, though I haven't hit the road yet.

As far as I know, it doesn't use 3G at all, it uses the EV-DO which is an opposing technology.

I'm not sure what "wow" is. If you're talking about World of Warcraft, I'm not sure since I'm not a gamer. It would probably depend on your location.

In metro areas, I found Sprint to be a little faster, but probably would not affect wow. I noticed that streaming high-def video from the CBS web site did not stream as well on Millenicom as it did on Sprint. But the Fox video player did just fine as it adjusts quality according to speed.

Okay, disregard all my posts. I have not been using the Y cable. I just put it back in the box when I started. I'll have to go back and get it. This is good news, however, if it really helps that much.

It should. I used toast net for a speed test plugged straight in and got around 700k. Then did it again with the y cable and pulled 1.4mb, so for me it was almost exactly twice as fast.

After reading your post I just connected the double USB cable. WOW! The speed jumped by 400%! Thanks!

Hmmm, I never even thought to use that cable since mine works without it. I'll give it a try when I get home and report the results.

lol wtf there was nothing included in the box that said what to do with the y connector... i just assumed it was a splitter so you wouldn't have to give up a usb port to use it. frack now i wanna drag out my laptop and try it...

The USB Y-cable should only be necessary when your computer's USB ports aren't putting out the full 500mA they're supposed to. The point is to get the remaining portion of the power from another USB port, powered by a different source. As far as doubling the speed, it really shouldn't. It should help with upload speeds in cases where the device isn't getting enough power, but supplying more power to the unit isn't going to increase the incoming signal any. Try using a better test, such as speedtest.net or dslreports.com/stest. Toast's test isn't the best by any means.

And EVDO is a form of 3G wireless broadband. The 3G simply stands for third generation.

By all rational thought you should be right. But I assure you it works. The documentation for the cable states that it will increase the performance, however, note that if it does, it's a reception issue and not a power issue. The antennae is the preferred solution but the extra power is a nice workaround. Also, they wouldn't include the adapter standard on the mere premise that most USB ports have faulty power throughput.

Actually it was speedtest I used, my bad. Thanks for the info on the 3G distinction.
