I apologize. Should have been noted. He is ok in regards to “major” problems and has been released. Rest of story tomorrow as I’m gonna pass out soon.

This is why I'm a one truck operator, not reefer or haz. I don't want those calls in the night for any price. I hope your deep in dreamland, Midwest.

The odds are that the longer a driver spends in this industry, hours and hours every week in a truck, which includes sleeping in said truck in the middle of nowhere, a health crisis will occur. The OTR (my opinion only) lifestyle sucks on so many levels.
Brettj3876, Dino soar, Midwest Trucker and 3 others Thank this. -
Getting quality sleep at these crowded truck stops is impossible.Staying healthy without quality sleep is even less possible.Dino soar, Midwest Trucker, Scooter Jones and 1 other person Thank this.

Yeah, it's rough.Dino soar and Dale thompson Thank this.

Why? I get 7-8 hours at every truck stop I'm at most nights. Does the noise bother you?
-
Yes. It interrupts my sleep. Especially unnecessary noise from old beat up APUs. Carriers are the loudest. Nothing worse from having a Prime truck as a neighbor (APU and reefer at the same time).
I bought myself noise cancelling headphones so...maybe they will help.
Sometimes I check in at a motel too. I like to do this when I am not loaded though.
But there is more to it than just noise...not sure what.
The lack of quality sleep manifests itself especially when after a few days or a week of being on the road I get back home...eat dinner, have a drink and then fall asleep like a rock for long hours on my sofa with a TV on.Last edited: Oct 20, 2020
