I did...from what I could gather they did do the checks before. Talk to their recruiters (Millis)...they have been there a long, long time...you can't go wrong with Millis. Just answer all questions asked of you honestly...sometimes honesty trumps the "issue" you are worried about...if that makes sense.

Millis also charges $500.00 for the school but of all the companies with their own schools I think they are probably the best.
personally I wouldn't drive for them since they put cameras in their trucks but you have to start somewhere and they are a good place to start.
if your past is so bad that you think you may not be hired just tell them up front and get it out there.77smartin Thanks this. -
LOL! I love Barney! Nothing too exciting. A couple of employment gaps. I know that's important to the trucking companies. Like I said, it's not perfect. There is a possibility they'll say no.
Thanks Finalsomnia! That's what I was hoping! -
Thanks 77smartin!

I think I saw something about cameras. Not sure how I feel about that. I can see good points and bad points.

Dont worry about the cameras for now.. just get some time in then you can find something else once you have the experience.

For what it's worth, Roehl Transport does do a background check before you get there and will let you know one way or the other. I am starting there on Monday and I also had the exact same question you did. I also heard the stories about getting kick out of school and I sure the heck didn't want to quit my job only to be sent home with no chance of a job. Like someone said, just call the recruiters...if they can be trusted

That's good to know about Roehl. I know it's a good idea to apply at a few places. Millis appeals to me because there's one relatively close to me. It also sounds like it has a good reputation from what I've read. Is Roehl the one in Wisconsin?

Chinatown, somehow I missed your post before. Are you sure it was Swift? I thought they were one of the ones I had read about people getting sent home after they got there.
