Swift does send people home that fail the DOT physical or pee test.
I'd go for Millis as a first choice. Good reputation and paychecks.

What is the Swift physical?

Oh I was thinking they had some other kind of physical test. I dont think they let you go without getting your Dot first, or at least with me there not.

Truckingbiker please let me know how it goes at Swift. Maybe it was just the drug tests that were sending people home. I may send an application to them too if they do all the checks before you get there.
Speaking of drug tests. I've heard a lot of the companies are doing hair tests in addition to pee. And that your hair needs to be like an inch and a half long. I keep my hair buzzed. Right now I guess I'm considering Millis, Roehl, and maybe Swift. Do I need to start letting my hair grow for any of them? -
I will let you know. I have heard of people getting there Dot at swift, but maybe they changed. They told me to get mine before I go. I will be going tomorrow to get mine for $78. My cdl permit was $45 got it today, cheaper in most states I hear. Will get it in the mail in week, so soonest I could go out there is not this coming monday but next.
Justintruck Thanks this. -
I just finished my second week of training with Millis. They do the background check upfront and then call to let you know you've been accepted. Once accepted to the training program you pay $100 upfront to reserve your seat in the class and have to pay $400 CASH on the first day of class. It's a three week course followed by a three day orientation. After you graduate you are sent out with a driver trainer until you log 15,000 miles then you are assigned your own tractor.
i can't speak for the other schools but I feel so far that the training I've received from Millis has been very good, I would recommend them to anyone looking to get into the industry.
good luck in making your choice!Justintruck Thanks this. -

Prior to class you need to have a class A permit, pass a DOT physical and obtain your fed med card. They provide the training and at the end of your third week of class they bring someone to give you a road test and providing you pass you are then granted your class A cdl license. The cost of that test is NOT included with the tuition, here in Wisconsin it's an added $150.
Any other questions you have feel free to ask, I'll do my best to answer them.Justintruck and harlycharly55 Thank this. -
