When I was there NO ,
they did did become very pushy with idle times when I was there ,
no matter how hot it got , they didn't like us idling the trucks .
Not sure if things have changed -
They do not have APU's but they do have bunk heaters...they want you to keep idle times down as low as possible, and soon paramaters are suppossed to be set that will cut the truck off if it idles longer than...I think 5 minutes, if the temperature is above ten degrees and below 60 degrees (according to a letter recently sent out). My trainer didn't give a #### about thier idle times and he idled the truck if it was below 32 degrees whether they liked it or not. I checked performance once and his idle time was something like 42 percent.

Idle limit will be 10 minutes between 10 and 70 degrees. Current policy is to keep idle times below 40%. They did have APUs on some trucks in the past, from what I understand, they where high maintenance in addition to adding weight to the chassis. The last of the APUs left with the trade in of the white regional Columbias last year.
stevenneill and sapamil Thank this. -
yes.millis pays for all those super singles on the trucks and trailers by forcing reduced idle/COMFORT times.they bottomed out upon losing the budwiper hauls to weiner and swiftty and whomever else that now pulls it.but hey.it is said that they have an excellent training program if one is so inclined to enter trucking via that route-

If you look at the range of temperatures that the idle limit will kick in, you'd notice that it is well within the limits of comfort. When it's cold, the espar will roast you out of this #### thing, and if it's under 70 open a #### window. If there weren't so many drivers that refuse to shut the truck off maybe companies wouldn't need to implement these policies. The super singles costs are covered by improved fuel efficiency compares to duels and a reduction in weight allowing for more freight in the box.
i also like like how you imply that losing dedicated accounts to mega fleets is a reflection on Milis. Those companies can underbid just about anybody. You should take it as a positive siign that Millis wouldn't bid peanuts for those accounts.stickshift76, QUARTER SLICK, Ga Dawg141 and 1 other person Thank this.
