Min/Max Blood Sugar Results for Physical Card?

    What is the minimum and Max that you can have on your test for Blood sugar. ???

    • At least 20/40 correctable vision in each eye as well as both combined. Glasses or contacts are allowed.
    • Needs to be able to distinguish colors found on traffic signals.
    • Forced whisper test to detect adequate hearing.
    • Controlled blood pressure under 140/90. Prescription medication may be used to control blood pressure.
    • Cannot have diabetes that requires insulin injections.
    • Maximum blood sugar level allowed is 200.
    • No use of a schedule I drug (controlled substance), amphetamine, narcotic or habit forming drug.
    • For any exemptions for vision, diabetes, etc. , please bring the exemption to your physical exam.

    1. Blood Sugar Level: The highs and Lows. A normal blood sugar level is less than 100 mg/dL. Patients with type 2 diabetes have a fasting blood sugar level of 126 mg/dL or more. A normal blood sugar level after a meal is less than 140 mg/dL.

      This is from a website, but it is not specific to truck drivers.

    There is no blood test on the CDL physical. The urine is tested for sugar. It's easier and cheaper than blood tests and is now as reliable at detecting diabetes.

    Glucose is not usually found in urine. If it is, further testing is needed.
    Normal glucose range in urine: 0 - 0.8 mmol/l (0 - 15 mg/dL)

    Are you diabetic? if so, test your blood and if it is under 140, you should be fine, no glucose will show up. after testing blood, do not eat or drink anything till after CDL physical. Empty bladder before testing blood, this is to get rid of built up glucose in your urine. Type 2 Diabetic here.
