MINI SPLIT SYSTEM INSTALL

    Not issue related. Just my setup that i did this weekend to reduce IDLE time

    So here is my setup. I still gotta do some details but it is fully up and running. For this I got

    Ryobi inverter generator 2300 $700
    12,000 btu Pioneer mini split with heat pump. $800

    unit consumes up to 1100 watts and because it is a soft start, it does not peak.

    Inside, it cools down to 62F. the unit itself basically has no noise. Generator no vibration to the cab. noise is minimal inside.

    This is a freightliner century 2005 and i have realized that a toilet has more insulation than this thing but it still pretty quiet.

    Let me know what you think and any ideas to make it better.

    I dont understand the people that are saying this units will not last.
    First of all the system itself its very cheap
    my calculations are based on 10 hour idle per day

    10 hrs x $3.00 diesel = $30 x 7 days = 210 and this is conservative.

    at this rate , i will save $840 pero month. Enough to buy a #### system every single month.

    Wish i didnt have a headache rack, could install one much more easily.

    But no way am i giving up a headache rack cause im a tarp monkey

    Close to the system I'm planning on doing in about a month....

    Not to rain on your parade (I'm going to do the same thing) but your saving numbers are off...
    My truck 2015 isx15
    Truck .7gl. Per hr × 10 = 7gl × $3 = $21 per day...
    My generator predator 3500
    generator with a 1,000 watt load .25gl pre hr = 2.5gl for 10hr 2.5gl × $3 = $7.50...
    $21 - $7.50 = $13.50 saving per day.
    More realistic savings, still good though...

    Thanks for the info. I was just looking at the 9000btu version. Units have what they call an inverter type electrical system, that adjusts the Freon flow, and keeps temp stable without starting and stopping, avoiding the big surge effect. I don’t really understand it, but sounds good. I’m surprised the 2300w generator runs a 12000 btu unit. That’s what I was wondering. Smallest generator possible adds up to more savings. More updates after it’s finished. Especially on how steady it runs, start ups, surges. Installation tips especially.

    only downside I see to the smaller generators is the run time...

    Most are rated run time is at 25% load
    Ryboi 2300 (start watts) = 1800 (running watts) it's rated at 8hr @ 50% load (900 watts) before refueling. 1,100 watts will need refueling after about 6hrs... my 3500 on the other hand will run 1,100 watts for 11 hrs.
    I have the remote start/stop kit (key flop) and ordered a remote fuel tank kit (15gl) +2,5 gl internal tank should run about 70hr between fill ups

    I broke down and put a portable in and zipped the window piece to fit the passenger side, I just hate the noise/vibration more then the fuel consumption, harbor freight 2000 watt for $500 will run it for about 7 hours

    I have a stand up single hose portable 8000btu, and ran it off a 2000w Chinese from Walmart, same as Harbor Freight model. It didn’t work very well. Generator ran it, once in a while it would stall out with the surge. Definitely want remote starter. I think actual fuel usage was still lower than a 3500, just tank capacity was less. I’ve seen YouTube tank modifications. Carrying the gas is a pita, and maybe dangerous. There may be some type of limit to the amount allowed for a gravity fed tank. An auxiliary tank with a fuel pump maybe? Rather just put a bigger tank on a 3500 watt, with remote starter.

    Also have to factor in saving truck/engine wear and tear.
    Just the motor: Inframe costs 10k. 1 million miles is stretching it. so 1c/ mile. 1 hr idle is about 30 miles driving, so an additional 30c per hour savings.

    And that's with extremely conservative numbers in favor of idling. And ignoring oil change costs as well as emissions equipment issues.

    Not real sure where you got your numbers BUT an inflame isn't 10K but 20k-30k.

    1,000,000 is no stretch my volvo had 1,397,000 when I retired it and most of the 0/0 I know have gone well over a million.

    1hr idle is about 5 min of driving
    BTW when I retired my volvo it had over 35,000 hrs idle time.

    Oil changes are done by MILEAGE not engine hours. so idling or not has nothing to do with how often it's changed.

    And yes emission systems don't like idling
