For a few hours, the highways would be safer.

I used to do some contract work for lme many years ago and they were money grubbing scumbags back then too ...something's never change .
A friend mine used to run the dock at the Omaha terminal and always said lme stood for " late most evertime"

Things are not really going to change in this industry, until the folks who pull these scams start receiving significant jail/prison time. The government can fine them to hell and back, and they just consider it a "cost of doing business."
"Going out of business," and then starting up the same business in a different location and under a different name, is one of the oldest scams there is. People have been doing this for decades, to get out of paying money that they owe.

Same difference. It's still all about money.

Exactly. Technically, they aren't allowed to do that within 50 miles of the old location without violating labor laws meant to prevent obvious union-busting. In this case they changed names to try to pull it off in the same area. The problem is, the same people own and manage the 2 companies. They might have gotten away with it had they not kept those workers last 2 paychecks.

Well they tried to be real sneaky, the previous owner sold lme to his son to get his name off it. Then financially backed a new company started by the ex union stuard of lme, then once established, the son filed bankruptcy...

LME is advertising for linehaul and city drivers at the council bluffs terminal which is non union so I know all this bs in mpls is only to get rid of the union .
When LME first came into the Omaha market they had a couple ex cf drivers who tryed to unionize the place .
I don't remember how it happened but they were suddenly gone and the union was never mentioned again .

    passingthru69 Thanks this.
