I was raised in the Maryland area and believe me when society itself is priced out of it's own natural things like buying a home etc. (Who has a half million and the taxes each year on those homes exceed what I see all year every year) In addition here Arkansas is a free state compared to the over many restrictive laws and so on back home. That is one reason most my entire family has been at one point or another migrating out of the Baltimore area. It's getting just too dangerous on one hand and too oppressive on the other. There is no freedom as such.

There are things I do ordinary with the older vehicle and weapons that are normal here in the south but Maryland would disallow either by the law or by inspection, emissions and so on. So I am happy not to have to deal with that silly stuff. You would think 50 years after the '68 riots the leadership in Maryland would be more accomodating say at the Baltimore City Hall. But it's not the case. The reality is that it's been a dying metro for decades. What with the killings violence and drugs wrecking who is left behind there. Everyone else (About two million plus) have gotten out.

California is a place where Ive been lucky to visit in trucking. But it's strictly just to visit, never to stay. They have consistently been a liability in some ways to the rest of the USA and people apparently are getting out because enough is enough.

There is indeed a migration down here from many areas and Appalachia for a percentage of our Population sick of the snows or sick of the California life or whatever it is that's a problem So they come here and make a home. There has been a awful lot of people coming over the years. (Im one of them)

You are right about the land being green over here. It's one of the benefits. Not all of us can deal with the western lands being what they are. I personally had no trouble with it but I would not choose to live there unless things got really bad here east of Kansas City. There are a number of quiet places out west I would make a new home if necessary.

The biggest thing for me is the Sea. Being near the Bay or the Atlantic has been a huge influence growing up. And I miss it quite a bit. There are still possibilities when you consider that Tidewater near the coast has not changed much the last 200 years and does not really have the issues that Baltimore is enduring.

Anyway. Home is where you are there you are. Hope you like it.

If you want to stay local, look into construction companies, it is always hourly and I always got a lot of over time, they are usually not too particular on your recent experience, concrete and sand and gravel companies too. I always made as much or even more than most otr trucking jobs paid.

As long as you stay in state in Ms. is a drivers license even required? lol

KLLM owns FFE and now Ecoshield. The terminals filling up crowded with trailers and theres no room to park anymore. It feels like a truck stop. They really need to expand their terminals. They have money to turn their 4-wheeler parking lots into fortresses. Lets them some open spaces for parking our trailers at the primary terminals.
