Just found info, The radio feed for the Jasper county law enforcement went offline due to lightning strike. Not confirmed but sounds plausible.
also transformer blowing, which is not good they didnt have power to a lot of areas as it was, if this is true, now they have even less areas to cover.

The University is no longer being used as a makeshift morgue , they have been moved to a new location, i'd say where, but from the scanner the pd wanted to keep it quiet to keep media away, and i have to agree that is the last thing they would need right now.

Thanks Big Don. Its was tricky at times, but i figured at least i could help others get info if they needed it. In my case things turned out ok, not the same for many across the U.S. today looking for loved ones.

On a side note, expect the death toll to go up in the next few days. From what i got from the scanner and the info i found. what they have it set at right now is way to low.

The City and Joplin R-8 are coordinating transportation to help those left homeless due to tornado. People can go to the following locations and a bus will take them to the shelter. People should go to: 1. Junge Stadium on 13th Street; 2. Forest Park Baptist Church, 7th & Range Line 3. Lowe's 24th & Range Line 4. Vintage Stock, 32nd & Mai...n. The City of Joplin understands the concern many have about their loved ones who endured the tornado that traveled through the middle of Joplin at approximately 5:45 p.m. Sunday, May 22nd. Citizens can now check on the status of their friends and family by calling 417-659-5464

I dont know if this has been posted elswhere but:

flying hook shut down due to damage and cleanup efforts

but the Pilot and Love's are still open for operation.

Does anyone know if I-44 is cleared up and or if sh-71 across to 59 through Neosho, Mo is too.

    thanks

Last i read 44 is closed, although i did hear the scanner saying it was clear, but just closed to through traffic. But the scanner is offline, no current info.
I think 71 is open, but not sure about where and how far.
Let me see what i can find

    Joplin, Mo. '
I-44 has reopened, but nearly the entire length of Range Line Road is closed. The road was closed from the Carthage exits to Miami, Okla. and reopened to traffic at approximately 8 a.m. From mile-marker 11 to 13 there were approximately 12 overturned tractor trailer rigs.
Storm damage on Range Line and Highway J near Diamond has closed both roads.
Driving conditions, by all accounts in Joplin, are difficult. Front end loaders pushed through roads filled with downed power lines and debris to clear a path for emergency vehicles. Most of the city is closed to traffic.
By Diamond, downed power lines, have closed Highway J, but a spokesperson for MoDOT said they expect those to be cleared shortly.

sounds like it is open, but no pulling off in that area.

Thanks for all the info seversoul.Just got off the phone with the wife and it looks like three more days of severe weather at home (se ok). Hopefully nothing develops this time,as there has been enough tornados this year to last a century. We lost some trees last night but think it was straight line winds.
