well, I'm still a rookie driver, but here some of the mistakes I've made thus far:
1) On one of my first long load from Michigan to Durham North Carolina I had just dropped my load at a beer distributor and decided I would go across the street to a Kroger to get some groceries. I figured that Kroger trucks go in there all the time to load and unload, and unload. no big deal, right? Wrong? instead of making a left and backing up into the area where the Kroger trucks go, I go into the right straight in and realize I'm not going to be able to back out, so I ended up trying to turn around this light pole only to get stuck in the mud to the point where I can't get out how to have a tow truck called. Fairly embarrassing, as this is my first long load ever.
2) I had to pick up a load of paper one day in Appleton Wisconsin. I had just been issued by my new boss a reefer trailer. So I back into what I thought was perfect, and when the guys opened up the doors they noticed I was about 6 inches off. Now I had to readjust myself. Now the special part about this dock was that it was an indoor dock. no I try to maneuver my trailer in a way that I could easy my way over to the right about 6 inches. Now my big mistake is that I came too far forward in my easing and managed knocked the trailer door right onto the ground breaking off the hinges.
3) My last newbie mistake. I was working for a carnival amusement company. And we were tearing the rides down, and I was helping hooking the trucks up. Now I went to this ride call the wacky Mouse. And back the tractor up to the trailer. I got out, pulled my pin., and backed up to the trailer hard thinking that the pin was fully released/unlocked. Well it wasn't. I had hit it so hard I dismantled the entire locking pin system. That was a dumb mistake, and they charged that one on me and I was never allowed to hook up a truck for that company ever again.Last edited: Oct 28, 2013

This is a true fact. No matter who you are. A seasoned driver or a brand new driver. The only people who don't make mistakes.. Are those that don't do anything. You just try to keep your mistakes to a minimum. If the truth came out .. And the stupid moves that we all have made.. We would all be rolling on the floor laughing.. Some we can hide and get away with. Some we are caught red handed.

Grabbing the mic to tell another driver on the road he's driving like an ####### only to realize that you (me) keyed up on the company radio mic, not the CB mic. Thankfully my boss is understanding.
