I jad picked up a load out of missouri and drove all the way to edwardsville to transfer it to another driver only to realize that the load was destined for california and i never weighed or set the tandems for cali...had to drive 500 miles on my dime to have them fix the load cuz it was overweight for cali.

Oooo k ..a good rookie mistake that I did... Statute of limitation is long gone.. Back then we pulled a lot of 40 trailers.. I hauled styrofoam like for bean bag and insulation, so I went into a lot of shopping centers delivering to fabric stores. I was backing up and noticed out of the corner of my eye a parked car move sideways.. I had hooked my bumper with a bumper of a parked car picked it up a couple of inches and moved the back of the car sideways. Put it back in forward , moved the car back to about the original spot it was before, and by doing that unlocked the bumpers.. No damage, thank God. And never told anybody.. Now don't forget everybody had steel bumpers back then ... We sure can't do that today.

Jumped another kingpin, and backed too far trying to get out from under it, luckily just scuffed the paint on the truck frame, then panicked for 10 minutes before realizing I have dumps on this truck, and just had to crank the trailer up, and flip the switch

got stuck in a neighborhood market parking lot because an employee said you can just loop around the gas station, tore up some grass, but got out (I'm sure we've all done something similar once)

Clipped a 2014 trailer with a 2014 trailer because I didn't cut wide enough due to another driver swinging the opposite direction around the same corner

You know what is far worse than forgetting to open your doors berore backing into a tight situtation? Opening them up and knocking one off.

My rookie move was many years ago, in a giant dump truck. The guy on the job came over to me every time that I backed up to the cliff to dump, and he opened my tailgate.

Well he was busy one day and didn't come over to the truck, and, you guessed it. I forgot to open the tailgate. The front end of that truck went up in the air like Evel Kneivel riding a wheelie. I stopped in time, but there is no feeling like 60,000 lbs of truck with the front end six feet off the ground teetering over a cliff.

    Never did that again.

did you get that suction action from your back side to hold you down? Lucky you didn't go all the way.
