This is a great thread. Here are a few of mine:
1) Moving my tandems because they "looked too far forward." I missed the bright yellow CAT Scale receipt where the previous driver weighed out the load. I was reminded I was overweight on my drives by the good old Georgia DOT to the tune of $95.
2) I managed to drive all around a truckstop with my landing gears down, until I tried to drive up on a raised scale. They work almost as well as airbrakes, but much noisier.
3) Several times I have proudly docked my trailer, just to have the warehouse guys raise the dock door and find mine still closed.
4) I drove into an inspection station in KY when they tired to waive me through (they don't use prepass). I earned an extra DOT inspection.
5) I have run over my share of chocks.
It is comforting to know there are others capable of making bonehead moves like me. Even experienced guys screw up once in a while.MACK E-6, davetiow, Gold_Miner and 5 others Thank this. -

Went to swap trucks after mine got fixed...unhooked the loaner truck , got back in mine , went to back up under the trailer...and never heard it click or hit. It was 4 in the morning so it was super dark...get out and look...the trailer pin over shot my 5th and ended up in front of it. My truck has 24's on it...my loaner truck had 22's...never thought of that haha. Had to have some old school's come help me push the fifth wheel down where I could pull out and then put 2x4's under my tires as i backed up to hit it right.
