at our company once you scaled over 500lbs over the trucks normal weight you had to go and chip out your truck.They use what we call a rivot buster which is essentially a mini hand help jackhammer.It is hot,humid ,smelly and loud in there.Not a fun job to say the least.Many companies now use contractors for this as it helps retain drivers.A few years ago here in my town a contractor was killed doing that when a 2000lb piece broke loose and killed him.That wouldnt of happened where I work as they did not let them go that far.

Part of my disability came from three days with one of those. Shook out 10 years or more right out of my bones it did.
You might be doing stuff off road that trucks are not supposed to. That is one reason I love mack, they are mountain goats on shale rock grades which pretty much point your windshield at the sky when empty in some of these arkansas hollars. Estimated gradiant is 60% max. Anything greater than that will roll you. End over end or side ways or a combination of all axis.
You will sit at the ready mix. In the afternoon wait and wait and wait, get a 1 yard call back order. Or become a sloshing water tanker. Don't spill it.
One of the best experiences or discovery for me is running a CAT 936 front end wheeled loader feeding rock and sand. I rather play.. er work that than sit and wait for a dallop of this or that going somewhere. -
Driving is the least of your worries in a mixer truck. You're going to have to learn how to pour concrete pretty quick, especially if it's a front unload.
I'm a amateur concrete guy (I've poured several pads here at the farm and at our shop). A good driver can place the concrete right where it's needed, a bad one can make a mess. How good of driver you are will be a big factor in how much the concrete guys have to work. You make a mess of it and the customer will call the office and tell them not to send you back, I know, I've done it.
