I just got started with Swift and I haven't worked since November. Mega carriers don't seem to care, but they will want letters as to why you haven't been working. Companies that have a 100% turnover rate aren't exactly picky.

    Bum Thanks this.

When you say they want letters, what do you mean? Letters from who?

I had to have two letters signed and noterized by two people besides myself verifying why i was unemployed longer than sixty days. I used two family members.

Yes it's a federal government regulation that they have to do it, it was instituted to prevent drivers from having multiple driver licenses like they used to do in the 1970s where a person could have a truck driving license in say Missouri and get 10 tickets, then he would just go get a new license in say Oklahoma and bam he now has a perfect driving record. It's really not necessary with the technology available today to keep up with cdl licenses but that's how the regulation came about. It's not a big deal, you can put down on paper that you just wanted to take a break from working for a year or whatever, have a couple people you know sign it and bam that's all they want is to account for the time to fulfill the govt. regulation. Don't sweat it, at all.
