Here's a list of some of the Microwaveable food's that I found are pretty decent.
Uncle Ben's rice, $1-$1.50 ( per packet)- you can nuke your own rice, takes longer though.
Orzo $1-$1.50 ( small pasta cook's faster, 1 box 5 or 6 meal's)need a microwavable bowl
Any of the Healthy choice ( steamers, dry, just add water and nuke)
Most of the Campbells soup's are great over pasta or rice buy for your taste.
I like adding vegetables from small can's or cup's.
oatmeal, add your own flavoring, cinnamon, apples ( dried apples work or cut one up). any dried fruit will actually work....well not banana chip's or thing's that hard.
Don't need nuking but:
packet's of Tuna fish, chicken, ham ( usually ham salad) and the like.
I like the Hawaiian bread pack's of 4, but they have more, makes great sandwiches ( bread)
fruit in a can or bowl, jello, pudding ( as long as they don't get hot they are fine)
My husband likes the Nature valley granola bars ( almond), great snacks.
Just walk up and down Wal-mart ( or any grocery store's) Isles and you can get some good idea's if you "think outside the box"
Oh I usually would grab one extra packet of ketchup, mustard, mayo or taco sauce when getting some. kept them in a little box, comes in handy.goblue Thanks this. -
walmart sells a tuna kit from bumble bee for $1 each. no heat required. its tuna or chicken salad and crackers. great stuff, no heat required, not entirely unhealthy, inexpensive, no quick expiration, and they are easy to eat (taste good). comes in a nice small box package, easy to store. nice to take the edge off quick hunger and not expensive. You can also do those ramen noodles in the cups. when you goto truckstop just use the hot water spigot on the coffee machine.

Definitely have some munchies on board like wheat thins/can goods/water etc. You won't always have a chance to "dine out" and you will be glad you have at least something to crave your hunger.

Thanks for great advice, folks. My son is starting a private school on Monday, no specific company yet but US Xpress ad pointed him to the school. Assuming he passes, school recruiter says he'll have choice of more rhan one company. He's new to trucking, so I'm thinking a starter company. I like what I've read about US X or Roehl to get experience. Easygoing kid willing to work hard, single so he doesn't have to worry about family.

He will have dozens of companies to choose from. Don't fall for the "he has to pay his dues" myth or "he must go to a starter company to gain experience." A lot depends on the hiring area he lives in; city/state.
Get all the endorsements and will have more options to choose from and higher paying jobs. Get tanker/hazmat, TWIC, passport.
Here's some high paying jobs for new CDL graduates ($50K - $65K jobs):
Trimac
Superior Carriers
Schneider Bulk
CTL Transportation
SVTN
Melton Truck Lines
