He hit the ramp dead center and most definitely started veering towards the left towards the pavement. How ###### would that have been to leave those tracks that far up the hill AND bounce out of there. lol

I'm a flatlander and just went down that pass, found it incredibly easy. I think I touched my brakes twice. I'm willing to bet he had mechanical issues.

Maybe that was his last trip before retirement and he thought he'd go out with a bang.

No, if you run it enough, you see the trucks loaded to gross at 50 mph +, (Loaded is 35 mph speed limit), with the brakes smoking halfway down the hill in high gear with the jakes on.(Which at a low rpm aren't really doing anything.)

I've heard drivers yell at me on the cb about coming down that hill slowly (usually doing 25-30mph because my loads are usually 43- 44,500). Heard one driver say he always comes down that hill fully loaded doing 55 and another say its a hill that doesn't need a runaway truck ramp because its not needed.

Obviously, CS, you are much more intelligent than those idiots are. . .:biggrin_25513:

I don't know that grade, never been there. But I really get frosted over folks raging on a driver because they are driving safely.

Don, it's like the ST's who think Vail and Eisenhower @80,000 should be done at 65 with the pedal buried
