Hello, can someone direct me to a site or provide the info here, on the monthly cost for an owner/operator, to operate on a multi-state basis, a leased tractor and box trailer?

well every owner op cost are not the same but i'll give you mine
Okay I make $1.60 per mile plus other bonuses on the average let say $600.00 per month
So I drive 12845 miles per mth on my run
    $20,552 +$600=$21152 my cost are
Now this is just Truck and my Trailer no Personal
$3013 per mth for truck +$567.00 for Dry Van
+ $177.00 for Trailer Ins+$250 Oil/Grease+$500 for food etc Plus the biggy Fuel on the average 2300 gallon's # today's price is $9450 so my total is $13437 leaving me with $7715 and then i get payed biweekly $ 3857.As I said it all depends on what kind of unit you are looking at with me I have 2008 389 Peterbilt and 2008 Great Dane Dry Van.So all said and done I'm happy And also take in the fact that I am 44 never married no Kid's and my home is NOW paided off. if you want you could lower your payment quite a bit if you buy a used truck and trailer About half of what I'm paying ,but then be carful on where you buy and from who.
I hope this help's as I say every oper is differnt in the way they op there bizz.,some agree with me some don't.
    Take care Jarken22

jarken22, did you include maintenance/repair costs, tires, truck insurance and return on your investment (downpayment)? What about depreciation and self-employment tax?

As far as taxes the biggest part is SS taxes at 15.?%
here is what I ran in 06 I grossed 177K proffit of abt 87K paid IRS Abt 21500 in taxes that included ss/fed taxes does not include state. I have no dependednt and very little dep.
in 07 Grossed abt 174K cleared 68K paid 15K to IRS again no state taxes included. Becaues of fluc fuel cost and repairs it can be hard to know exactely ea qt. I pay qt of 3500 to 4000(in 06 should have paid closer to 5K) but If I see that the rev is climbing and cost might be down I need to be adding 500 or more to my qt est. AND make them est...it is a killer if you don't. Also I have very little dep left...if ya have it it will lower you amt for 3 yr. then you dep. out...BUT unless the repairs on a trk or trailer are higher than the cost of purch a new one you are not always a head to buy something just for dep sake...a GOOD acct will tell you that every time. Also remember a big part of your tax bill goes to SS and I know we all think it won't be there but if you keep your taxes low then someday your SS will be low too.
