Based on what’s been happening, I’m pretty sure a lot of those visas aren’t even legally issued considering what’s been going on. It’s been a lot of circumventing of the laws.

If that is what was really happening.- I’d share your view. However, it is not. A lot of these foreigners are coming here only for work not to live and settle. They fly back-and-forth to home. It is too expensive to live here and they take the wages back home. You know they’re getting paid less than you, they are your competition and will eventually cost you wages. If your employer can’t compete with the foreign companies that set up here you can forget everything great about being a truck driver in America forget Safety, forget raises forget American companies. It has already started. The overcapacity they talk about in the market… It’s coming from overseas companies set up here.

 

Its been found out here in Canada that folks are issued a student visa but are working illegally with it. A student visa allows them to work a max of 20 hours per week off campus.

I’m amazed at the amount of Eastern Europeans that have built relatively large Trucking Companies over the last 20 years. They’ve done it using mostly Drivers from their countries. I’m currently working for them. They get the job done. They pay on time. I’ve seen many local Industries change throughout my lifetime. Restaurants and Stores once mostly owned by Italian immigrants, Greek immigrants, Arabic immigrants, now Eastern European immigrants. Some are poor and work their way up. Some are indentured and prove themselves worthy of sponsorship by mentors. As far as language goes. The older one is the less likely they’ll learn. It’s a problem driving a Truck.
