More foreigners on the road

What jobs have they taken? Manufacturing jobs? Unskilled labor jobs? Those are being phased out by automation, or have been outsourced to other countries in order to save the man at the top money, plus make him richer. Those jobs are not coming back. Jobs are very much available, the problem is that the better paying ones need some form of certification, degree, or specific training. That has little to nothing to do with immigrants.

If you want to talk about trucking, many say rates are low because of too many trucks. If you get rid of every immigrant driver, you'll still have the same problem because they make up the smallest minority of the industry.

 

My own personal observations over the last 5 years contradict that, here in Canada anyways.

We get a lot of stuff shipped in/out of our yard. Rarely ever do I see an English speaking Canadian make any pickups or deliveries. The only real exception being the local equipment movers. Not saying these drivers are bad folks, its nothing more than what I've observed in terms of who's driving trucks.

 

I’d strongly argue that that’s not true on the west coast. Maybe not the Midwest or wherever you run, but over here it would get rid of quite a bit of truck traffic. Just look at any wreck that happens on I-80 over Donner.

 

Well....the west coast is diverse as hell. I remember a statistic that California is the most minority populated in America. Some of those folks have lived on the west coast for generations but I don't know that they're necessarily immigrants. A lot of Americans screw up on Donner too now. I've got a buddy that screwed up over there, smoked his brakes something serious. He had never been trained to drive anywhere past the south or midwest states. I see my share of drivers who are foreigners or of foreign descent. Doesn't bother me though. They provide as much entertainment as the American drivers.

 

Only I know is I can't believe this thread hasn't been shut down yet .

I can tell not one of the folks that are ok with this live down here in the dirty south. Visiting every on e in a while to deliver a load doesn't count. You wake up every morning and go out and you are in a third world twilight zone country more and more every day. We went to bath and body works in new braunfels yesterday and it was packed. Like a dozen buses with south American or something other “immigrants” being shipped to New York made a stop and unloaded for a shopping spree there. No one spoke english. That was just BBW for god sake.
Ever since the 2020 debacle we true Americans whether born and raised or legal residents have come to learn that there are many living her that are willing to give away there homes, jobs, and way of life to others who do not deserve the same just to not be called a bigot.
