    Update..

I spent more money at Bob's and came away with a Predator, with 27" shaft, quick disconnect from Hustler, and the steel mirror mount.

They said it tuned to 1:1.

My swrs on the radio meter, yes I know, still elevates slightly with increased power, but nothing over 2. Channel, 40 is at 2 I believe. I haven't tested with my meter though. I only went in the just get the mirror mount as, putting the 7ft Firestik back out there solved my swr issue as well. I don't know what happened to my Browning, and that 4ft FS. Are they shorted or just too short?

But the truck is ready for the Strykers return.

BTW, Bob's had a N type mount, but was already soldered to the mount and coax. There was no stud. They also don't sell HAM equipment.

My uhf connect dualband antenna, stud, and coax will arrive in time for my test. I was disturbed to read the NMO recommendation here as I had all ready ordered and it was shipped. But I still did well because, there are no big truck NMO studs available. Now when I drill a whole in my car's roof, and go HAM mobile there, it'll be NMO all the way.

Lastly, I think wiring directly to the battery introduced more noise, or the high gain on the longer antennas, or the switch from sides has created more engine/alternator whine. I forget to get a ferrite choke.

    Ougigoug Thanks this.

You think they "Kw" know better!

I run Kw for the last 15 years and i always had water infiltration issues....

The shop that i deal with have to go through each & every new T680 they sell water is entering thru flood light....

The problem is the curved glass on the outer edges of the window pillars.
They have the same problem with T600

I've gotten a bunch already made, they are not as easy as just having a shop throw them together. I will end up selling them when I get a couple more designed and made for different mounts.

A while ago I bought a couple made by 'spymaster' in Texas, they didn't seal right, or the bunch I got didn't. I found out that he swedged the center seals in wrong, and he used cheap insulation. I guess he sold a lot of them because he claimed he made enough money to build a huge 20kw amp.

I made a few mno mounts a long time ago that can be mounted onto a post or something, trying to think where they are, I forgot all about them.

the nice thing of what I do as a driver for all kind of shops is to allow me to barter for machining work, so getting 10 of something isn't normally a problem.

You all make too much out of it.
I got the Cascadia ss mount and Predator antanae, had someone at Bob's set the SWR's , swapped trucks and never tuned the antanae and it works great. Coax is old, doesn't matter

I'd love to see a picture of one whenever you scrounge one up. Let us know what the prices are and I'm sure a bunch of us would like to buy some

Not everybody is a perfectionist and most people think a 36 ohm pl259 connector is perfectly fine.
There are some of us that prefer to keep everything 50 ohms from the radio to the feed point of the antenna though.

With the nmo mounts I found they do work ok with the 2 meter antennas on the work truck bird perch and personal truck fender mount.. The longest of the antennas is 59" nowhere near the wind load as some of the cb antennas

I have it currently removed from the work truck as am changing to a new one in the next few weeks and it is easier to change stuff out at home than at the yard. I got the mounts nmo mounts for both from The Antenna Farm you can pull up pictures from their website, I'll see if I can pictures later. I used the Laird no ground 1/2 wave antenna for the work truck. I don't think it does as well as the 5/8 wave antenna I used before but that was on W900L's and T800 which were more antenna friendly than the Cascadia's I drive now. I used a 5/8 wave for the fender mount antenna on my pick up and it does a good job.
