    AMEN !!
    If I'm 1/1000 Native American...
    What does it change?

    Nothing.

Genealogy testing just stirs up a family ruckus.

Had mine done with Ancestry. We, like many families from the south thought we had Native American but it didn't show up in me anyway. 80% British, the rest Scotch/Irish, French, Norwegian, German. We have had a lot of fun with it in our family including finding a relative we didn't know we had haha.

And they have found at least one serial killer using dna from investigators in California used GEDmatch to help identify the suspect they believe to be the so-called Golden State Killer, matching him to familial members of the family who submitted dna material for a family tree search. Joseph James DeAngelo was captured after 30yrs and has been tied to a possible 12 murders and 50 rapes from 1970-1980.

The 2 major websites say they have to have a warrant to release info that they have. I think there was another cold case solved the same way.

Yes I heard about this. You can download your results to.GED match from most of the major DNA sites. It's more of an experimental DNA.site consisting of professors and such. A lot of folks are scared of submitting their DNA in fear of the govt using it, or maybe finding out something they did. In my case I really dont mind at all, got nothing to hide anyway

Mixed nationalities was sometimes called 'duke's mixture', my surname is Dutch, but I have much of northern European, but not Scandinavian, lineage.

Dutch, Belgians and others of the area spoke low German.

Some people do this also to see if there is any Native American in the bloodline because if there is they may qualify for certain benefits but they have to contact the Bureau of Indian Affairs to get more in-depth information.
