Mounting a Flatscreen TV in the truck

"Holier than thou" EOBR lovers were running so "illegal" before they had EOBRs....Perhaps they, themselves are the reason that the government is trying to mandate them.
I ran on Federal Logs 35 years with no violations, no citations,no accidents, and 100% legal (Aviation).
And following behind others who took shortcuts, no PTI's, exceeded parameters, etc, caused me a number of problems and headaches.
In addition certain dispatchers would lie on the weights, not to mention pushing Duty Times in order to please the customer.
I've flown 15 years with OEBR's since then as a pilot and now as an OTR Driver. It ensures I have no critical issues with the Moron who drove before me, or my duty time, and that's worth the minor inconvenience. I like being an old fart!
Just sayin'.

 

I've been doing some research on this. Wife baught me a 24inch and an Xbox 360 for my birthday and I'm going nuts trying to figure out a no drill mount for my ProStar.

I stumbled across this site here.
It had all the details about the vesa mount and screws needed. Seems like I need a trip to Lowes.

 

I'm with the others...Companies pay you to drive not watch tv or play video games. I take same 10 hour break as everyone else. I sleep 8 hours, use other 2 to plan trip for day, directions to consignee or shipper, etc

 

Awfully boring life you have if that's all you do, you must get home every weekend.

It would be nice working for a company where they stack your loads perfectly. But it doesn't work out that way for me most of the time. A fair amount of my companies consignees unload by appointment only. So if they book it with with 36 hours between load and unload and the consignee is only 900 miles away, I've got 6 hours to kill. That's also not addressing what to do on a 34 hour restart. I run at least 3 weeks out at a time and usually end up with 2 of those in that time frame.

And a side note, its never taken me 2 hours to plan my day. Maybe 30 minutes while I'm eating breakfast.

 

I unscrewed the cab window screws, screwed them back in through bungee cords (alot of screwing here), ran bungee cords thru the tv mount and made it real tight, then let the bottom of the tv rest on the top bunk thing (if youve been in a pete full double bunk you know what im talking about). It was really ghetto but it worked and didn't budge, worse that happened was the tv would flap around a bit. Finally I just decided that was overkill and wanted to save the luxury of a 32" and PS4 for the house and just went back to the 24" which I put in one of the cubby holes and used duct tape to secure it. Barely noticeable and never fell once during its 100k miles

 

Actually, 1st time home in a month. Not always stacked on loads. Don't have to have tv to live an exciting life. I read and write alot, spend time in prayer and listening to satellite radio. It is just a matter of perspective I guess.

 

It doesn't take me that long to plan, but I am usually eating, quick work out, prayer, takes two hours.

 

I find its good to have that entertainment there when you need it. When i had a rolling entertainment center i barely had time to enjoy it, when I took the tv & video games out for whatever reason i never sat more in my life

 

I'm not a big tv guy, but to those who say there isn't time... seriously?? I see this on many threads.

I've been a workaholic for many years, but I've learned that success isn't how much you work - it's about a balanced life. Nobody give out medals for how much you work.

If you can't accomplish what you want in 12 hours per day, then maybe a career change or company change is in order. Don't forget to have a life.

The "eat, drive, no time for anything else" attitude seems to be common in this industry. Are they paying you for the use of your whole life?
