I have looked everywhere on my truck to see if I can mount a mushroom antenna, and can't seem to find a place. It's a company truck so drilling holes is out of the question. I'm in a 2013 Freightliner Cascadia. Any help with this would be good. Thanks.

In a 2010 cascadia, I ended up using the small magnetic mount antenna that can be purchased as a separate compenent at most truckstops. I used a small piece of quality stick-on velcro and affixed the antenna to the top of the driver-side mirror and snaked the wire down behind the mirror and along the mirror post (taped or cable-tied) and then through the door jamb and then to the receiver. Not sure how a mushroom antenna might work on a cascadia unless there's a bracket that might go in between a cb antenna base and the antenna where the Xm antenna could perch there.

I have a Wilson magnetic antenna stuck to the side of the truck, but depending on what direction I'm going I lose the signal. Velcro sounds like it may work but how does it stand up the wind etc? I need it to stand up to the very cold up north to the hot down south. So the glue on the velcro would have to be excellent. That's why I was thinking about the mushroom antenna.

I've ran the same velcro install thru 2 winters (KS to New England) and a bunch of truck washes and never had any issues although it was a 65 MPH truck. 2 sided foam tape may work as well or better. But if you try this setup, look for 3M product whatever you decide on and clean everything real well before you apply.

I recommend you place it on the driver's side for better reception (further away from trees). But still your reception will come and go when your alongside a mountain, cliff, or very tall trees, and the further North and east you go the more you can expect to lose reception with that setup in marginal scenarios I mentioned. The XM satellite is toward the Southwest.

Thanks. I'll give 3M a shot and see how that works. It's bound to be better then what I'm doing.
