Hey she is pretty friendly and the guy in SoCal that does the inspecting and measuring is really cool.
And surprisingly, when I called and stopped at Banning for a Sunday night parking - they were relatively friendly as well. It was also a lot safer place for me to park than a truckstop.

I like your new trailer. 2/3/2's always been my favorite, but that 2axle hydro booster is a chunk of change!! -

Spreader bar: aka spreader bar booster, axle portion is pinned onto the back end of the "spreader bar" allowing the "spreader bar" to be removed thus changing from either tandem or tridem to a tridem or quad. (I have seen the spreader bars removed and pinned onto the neck to be carried when not in use on several Keen trailers as previously mentioned)
Stinger: aka, no it's a stinger, as in the photo in the OP of this thread. I call this a stinger (or sometimes a stinger-booster) because that's what the manufacturer calls it. They are variable controlled via nitrogen compensator with hydraulics. These are seen most commonly made by Superior for use with Fontaine trailers, however they will make the front end adapter for most any trailer if you supply drawings/measurements, etc.
Booster: there are three common types of boosters form whence I learned dis stuff...
1-Common Air Booster: aka booster, cause, well, that's what it is. It pins on the lower back end of the trailer and provides variable "boost" by adding or removing shims. They "push" or "boost" weight forward.
2-Mechanical Booster: aka booster, cause like the full title says, it takes weight mechanically via attaching to a "coffin" subframe that the trailer is attached to, kind of like a permanently attached "dollie" Ie; Rontonio's or my trailer/booster. With the exception of some form of trombone capabilities, weight cannot be moved around with this type, which is why CA likes & approves them.
3-Hydraulic Compensating Booster: aka booster, because like the common air booster, because it still uses common air but uses hydraulics in place of shims, they attach to the trailer and "push" or "boost" weight forward and are either computer controlled by (electric or air over hydraulic) pump to maintain the desired hydraulic pressure or "boost" as per settings, or are nitrogen compensated like the "Stinger" except that these are usually tandem or tridem units made by the trailer manufacturer for the specific trailer.
Double Neck Auto/Manual Steering Dolly type trailer: the title kinda says it all

HighCountry and nate980 Thank this. -
Well done @Heavy Hammer !. I should print that and hand it out.
Ah yes, the old "air boosters" hated them, never had one that worked worth a darn, IMHO.
You run into it all the time too, ya ask someone for a big fork to put your stinger on/off, they look at you funny and say "oh your booster?" or your "spreader Bar?" with a question on their face. If he's giving me a free lift I'll call it whatever he does without a blink. No big deal.
But, yes, you nailed the definition, as I've always know them anyway.
I'm glad we have guy's like you that have the time and patience for all that "comput'n, inter'web" stuff. I dont. Good Job.
Thanks again. -
Trust me, I've learned over the years to "Select All" -> "Copy", then hit "Post Reply". Then when it give me the "hey stupid" response & laughs at me, I hit "Paste" -> "Post Reply" and laugh right back at it!
That, or I edit the crap out of a post...HighCountry Thanks this. -
How about some pics to go with the definitions. Easier to understand.
macavoy Thanks this.
