Ok, got the truck today which is a 06 Volvo. Stock antenna mounts are junk (high SWR). Gonna go with a Wilson 2000 trucker. The mirror supports are metal. I'm using a peaked and tuned Cobra 29. So does anyone run a similar setup on a Volvo with a mirror mount? Do you have SWR probs with the mirror mounts on your Volvo?

Ok let me rephrase my question. I've heard good and bad about the perch mount. What's your review on it

I don't run a volvo but My antennas are mounted to my mirrors on the pete I have. Ground great 1.5 or less on the SWR on my stock galaxy 959. Never had an issue with them until the coax went to #### and then the SWR jumped up to 2.5 replaced the coax back down to 1.5 or less. Have you looked into the redneck mount? Pair of visegrips with a connector welded to them? I know a guy that ran a volvo that used those for years and his radio sounded better than anybody esle I've ever talked to. I'd say as long as your mirror mount will ground properly you should be alright and it should fix your SWR problems.

I brought my meters from home to test the setup. SWR was 4-5. So I bought a brand spankin new Wilson 2000 in the box for $40 on eBay last night
. Will ship either tomorrow or Tuesday. Then when the next check comes in, I'll buy the mount and coax. I'll probably use the perch mount to save me a lot of time, aggravation, and hair pulling. But what has me stumped is, some of the mirror mounts are to big for the perch mount even closed tight as it'll go.
