That's a brokers' way of trying to get something moved cheaper....let me guess they said, "it only takes up 38ft of the trailer leaving you another 15ft to find something to go on with it so you should be able to move it $1.00 / mile "?
Just tell them you are only allowed to give out FTL rates....obviously this all depends on your exact circumstances but make sure you only get kicked in the face once, twice if you have a hard head, before deciding crap like that isn't even worth it. -
If anything goes past 27ft I consider it a full load. No ifs, ands or buts. Now if the rate is decent enough to move it at that partial designation then so be it. Make sure if it's a partial it's marked as such on the rate sheet
-
Correct on 15ft but it was $0.79 a mile because it came out of the same city as I was in.

LOL ya I had PLS try to get me to take a 37 foot partial for $1.00 PM
I just laughed as I hung up -
I've fallen for this before. Not so much the 30' partial as the 30' partial that has 2 hour pick up and delivery windows on specific dates. Kinda hard to find that goldilocks load to go with it when you don't have at least a day or two to work in other stops.
-
Yeah what's worse is when they got some short but really heavy load so you can't be legal neither if you take anything else.
-
I make full loads into partials all the time...I take small stuff that's paying full rate then jam a bunch of other stuff alongside it. Voila turn good money into great money
fortycalglock and double yellow Thank this. -
They done that way when I first got my authority back 2007. I worked a whole years to "buy" fuel.
I found out my truck gets better mileage empty. -
My favorite is the partial over width load that requires a specific route and a crane appointment
Ruthless Thanks this.
