So a few weeks back a company called me saying i could come in and fill out an application. a few minutes later they emailed me saying i actually lived too far. They want someone to live 35 to 45 mins away at most. I live about 54 mins away. Now would it be weird to call them back and say i would be willing to move if i got the job? or that im even willing to live out of a motel until i find a place? i see that the job still hasn't been filled. What do you guys think?

What kind of position is it? Otr, regional or local?
If it’s otr doesn’t really matter if you’re 3-4 hours away. As you’d be away from home 3 weeks at a time anyway. Regional ehh..I mean making that drive every few days wouldn’t be worth it ... local... forget about it

At that range it’s too far... you gotta factor 2 hours a day commuting back and forth to work on top of at least a minimum of a 10 hour shift. The amount of miles you’d put on a personal vehicle. That’s 120 per day if you get 400 miles per tank you’d be refilling every 3 days with out any other driving.
What’s the company? And what are they offering?

Some guys where I work live an hour away from the terminal. I lived in a hotel for a few months before. It’s really expensive compared to an apartment so don’t do it for too long.

I wouldn't tell them you're willing to move for the job. I'd float the idea as being an opportunity that came up regardless of the job, and what would they think if you went ahead with it.

If you like where you are living, stay put. Jobs come & go. It is possible that this could be the job you will be working in for a long time to come. However, if the job does not work out, you may end up being miserable having given up a place that you have been living in for a period of time.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.

I did that for a spell, couple times, actually. An hour is a bit much. Falling asleep on the way home, car trouble, the last thing you want to F with after a long day. Commuting is for the birds, total waste of time, and I had other things that needed to be done. Many times, in a rural setting, like I was, I HAD to commute, and many don't have a choice.
