this is kinda what i was thinking. and I was told i didn't qualify from the hiring person and not the actual manager. I might call the manager myself just to see whats up. someone might find it annoying. some might see it as me showing initiative.

I would go in person and talk to the manager, so I am not just another voice on the phone. Show him you are serious about the job.

I talked to a company once and they said I was out of the hiring area. Who picks up and moves to a different city without having a job first? It seems pretty unreasonable to me.

    1)
You would be surprised how many people move to a new city or town without having a job lined up. In some cases, they don't even have a place lined up to live in.
    2) I actually came across a man who moved from Omaha Nebraska to Wichita Kansas, and actually found a $14 plus an hour job, as a city transit bus driver, within several days of arriving in Wichita KS.
    3) Believe it or not, he was still looking for a permanent place to live. He was holing up in a rundown motel in a bad part of town. He did eventually find an affordable and decent apartment to live in.
    4) This all took place about 2 years ago, before COVID-19 broke out.

    NOTE:
    1)
I personally would NOT recommend doing what this guy did.
    2) By the GRACE OF GOD, things turned out well for this guy, as far as finding a job and a place to live. He was VERY FORTUNATE.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.

Tell them you’ll move,,get the job and then take all the time you like to move. Maybe you prefer where you currently live.

I don’t think it makes you look desperate. If anything committed. Maybe a little unstable, Lol. Might mention you’ve been planning a move, and that’s why you’re interested.

Best way to get a Job is to bug them. Show up in person. Don’t be shy. Applications need to be filed monthly. They often get thrown away, or deleted these days. Better to see your name keep coming up. Choose words wisely. Once I talked so much, explaining the Guys Business, trying to be impressive. Didn’t hire Me, guess I knew too much. Probably came off as a know it all.

My .02 is, if you’re young without any obligations, pick an area you really like to live. Especially if working Local. Next thing you know, family life becomes most important. Better to be living where you want, to begin with. Hard to uproot, once established with a family, it affects their lives, also.
