I reapplied. I guess I’ll wait till Tuesday and see if they call back so I can ask these questions. Thanks.

To be fair on not taking the Sysco job at 20hr it could been a non union shop. Sounds like a shuttle only position. Which being non union shop they can offer it off the bat for peanuts. But you got to ask these questions. Some companies and their drivers don’t put their pay out there still. I hate it but it’s kinda the old school ways. Even in this social media age. So if it’s a reputable company I wouldn’t turn it down til you’re in the door and have the actual facts. Sucks but that’s how the cookie crumbles in trucking.
I was told when I hired on Reddaway my base pay was 45k a year Linehaul. .39 cpm. This was back in 2012. Also I couldn’t be picky at the time. I took the job cause of the research that was out there for Linehaul. I was averaging 70-80k back then. I wasn’t work 6 days a week either.jmz and FloridaBoy93 Thank this. -

The yard you applied for probably a remote shuttle yard. They can hire for local delivery also remotely but then it’ll probably be union so the runs go by seniority and pay goes up so they can hire. Something like that. Some towns or areas have 1-5 trucks only if it’s a small area.
Also when I worked at Mclane. Denver serviced Albuquerque NM. No warehouse in that city. Routes would come out of Denver. We’d drive down layover then deliver the next day, layover and go back to Denver. Now they shuttle trailers from Denvers warehouse and have local guys deliver from what I heard.Last edited: Aug 31, 2025
