I live very close to the Mexican border and am contemplating moving across due to the very low rent. The commute wouldn't be too bad either. Also the company I work for migrates back and forth from 2 states to the same locations and provides housing for workers, should they need it. So I would live in Mexico half of the year and the other half in the company provided housing. Would I be able to continue using my U.S. CDL or would i have to convert it to a mexican license? Thanks in advance. I have searched for answers but nothing is clear.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

No need to change license. Just park on us side and go. You ll need Turista sticker on car to get past border area. And those are 3 and 6 months i think.

I lived in Tecate Mexico for almost three years; kept my TX CDL with a California mailing address on the license. Housing is definitely cheaper on the south side of the border; crossing every morning for work is the biggest hurdle but if you can walk across and have a vehicle on the American side it’s not too bad.
