I have been driving for 6 yrs and I live in Indiana but I am interested in moving to Florida maybe in the spring and I am trying to find out what it is going to require for me to obtain my Florida CDL and if the is a period of time that I can drive on my Indiana CDL while trying to get my Florida CDL. Or am I going to have wait to get my CDL in Fl before I can get a job can anyone help me with my questions? I hope so. Thank you very much.

Best bet is to check the FL DMV site. Most states allow a grace period of 30 or more days to transfer your CDL to that state. Hope this helps.

30 days grace by the state is correct. As for the companies, most will tell you when you get hired that you have 30 days to switch your CDL to state of domicile, but honestly they don't usually follow up to assure you did it.
On a personal note, I also was born and raised in Indiana and migrated south a few years ago for the obvious reason(What do FL and my new home of TN have in common?) -
I appreciate the advice you gave about the Fl CDL do you know if I have to retake a skills test? Or a written test? I looked at the Fl DMV site it only tells you about obtaining a new CDL I was unable to find anything about transferring from state to state.
