I called BillyBob's Alligator Eatery and they just filled the last position. Darn.

So far I have been in touch with KLLM, Wilson and Freymiller. All sound decent.
What's the job sitch in Fla?

I have 3 years van/reefer experience. Willing to get endorsements. I'd like to stick with what I know though. Clean record.

I'd want to live in North Florida. Jax area.

    Shout out to Chinatown !!

i seem to recall one reason why not too many OTR jobs, is cuz they cannot guarantee you home time, as not too much comes out of there to go to other places.

    Boondock Thanks this.

I heard the same but the 3 companies I mentioned didn't seem to have a problem getting me the miles. At least that's what the recruiter says !

then on a personal level, i'd stay far, far away from Freymiller.

i think KLLM just announced huge pay raises.

I worked for 17 years at Shaffer Trucking. They have a terminal in Deland, FL and I was OTR for all those years. I lived in Panama City and had no problems getting home. The equipment is new and they do take good care of it. Top pay is $0.67 right now, but starting pay depends on experience.

If you are moving to N FL, you may as well look into S GA companies to drive for, if there is an OK to drive from home to and from the terminal few hrs once in couple of weeks. FL has no parking anyways. We have a yard about an hr away from home, so nothing biggy, have a load, drive to the truck, leave the car and go out, come back, park the truck, go home.

    Just a thought.

    Thanks

The companies I talked to sofar don't have terminals near Jax. They said I can keep my company truck at my place. Are you saying there are local ordinances preventing tractor parking at residences or no parking at truck stops for resets... not sure what you mean.

    Boondock Thanks this.
