You better plan on being out on the road a LONG!!!! time. There is VERY little freight out of Florida but tons going in. The outbound is seasonal produce and whatnot.
FL is not th place to live f you want to drive otr. It's actually about the worst place I can think of -
i agree with you one hundred percent and if you have the time in i used to work for a metal building company here in north al in shipping dept and would send a alot of loads with shelton trucking and alot of the drivers was from florida and they seemed happy but very small sleepers -
. I want to move to Florida out of this nasty -8 degree weather

Trucking... ...you gotta be hitched to a mega carrier and live in a line North of Orlando to get a ride in and out of Florida and make money. -
What part of Fl? Davis in Starke, Fl (N central) is a decent sized company. I don't work for them but I occaisionally entertain the idea of checking them out. Jax also has Cypress express, a flatbed co.. Southpoint Refridgerated, FFE, Knight Trans, and a few other big companies are all located along the I-4 corridor. I haven't worked for any of them but I know they're a few of the ones around. good luck

it's humid here but nothing like FL. I went there last month to pick up my truck. I got off the plane in Tampa and died from the humidity. And being in southeast TX that is saying something.
HEy logs, I spent a good part of the day sitting on the porch in shorts and no shirt sipping on a few brews! it was about 68 today. sorry, I an compelled to rub those things in!! You ca give it back to me in may when it's 100 degrees and 100%humidity -
Tampa is a great place to move at this point. Real Estate depreciation is second highest of any city in North America according to this months reports. Number 2 biggest price drop in the nation on one estimate, Number 4 on another in the nation in real estate depreciation since this time last year.
Prices on homes dropped a whopping 10% from last year. Foreclosures also are skyrocketing, higher rates than most places across the USA, so you can drive down the street and literally see 5-10 for sale signs on a single block.
The city and its homes are ripe for pickin'!!!! Unless, of course, you are gambling, like a lot of people, that prices are going to keep dropping....who knows?
YIKES! -
As a long x res. of tampa you do get use to the heat/humidity, i just started driving, i had a difficult x at best of even being offered a position.
being in FL. noone seems to want to hire out of this area!
i did however get a position with a OTR co. out of OR. and i luv it thus far.
they said at orientation that that dont hire ppl from areas if they did'nt think that they could get us home.
