Hello all , relocating to WA next year, I have my CDL in Arizona currently , and I was just wondering if anyone knew if I had to retest, or just pay fees? if so, just the written test , or the actual driving skills portion as well?

Also, if I do need to take the driving portion again , how would i go about getting a vehicle to use for the test? any suggestions , comments , or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Most states just require the eye test and renew the hazmat indorsement.

WA State Licensing (DOL) Official Site: Transfer your CDL …
To transfer your CDL, make an appointment to visit a driver licensing office location. You'll need to: Show your valid out-of-state (OOS) or Washington driver license

That's how it works in my state. You present your out of state CDL, fill out some paperwork, do the eye exam, take a new photo, present your TSA letter, pass the HazMat endorsement test.

What about other endorsements? Do you have to retake the tests for those, too?

In most states all endorsements other than HazMat transfer just by paying your fees and presenting your out of state CDL, IIRC. As always, CA, NY, IL , MA may be exceptions.

Just to be clear, it seems like WA requires you to retake all of your endorsement tests to have the same endorsements in WA. At the links posted by @softail it seems you will pay about $100 or more for all the fees and endorsement tests.

So I'd have to retake all the written tests for the endorsements I have , eye test , and surrender my current CDL? Ok , thanks everyone , was just worried about the actual skills test as I struggled with it , my current company wasn't big on letting me practice oddly enough, so the parallel parking was difficult.
