OK was going to make a new post but seen this one and figured i would just make a new post off this one...Ok so here is the deal, I have 3 speeding tickets in the last 3 years 1 in 07 and 2 in 08 and 1 preventable accident in oct. of 09. I am waiting to hear from the cdl school i applied for to see if i get a pre-hire before i pay for the class...If this school cant do anything for me does anyone know of a company with a cdl training course that allows 4 moving violations in last 3years? Or am i going to have to wait untill after oct this year so the 07 ticket is more than 3 years old? I would appreciate any info someone has, i really want to start a trucking career and not have to wait 2.5 more months..thanks in adavnce for all responses.

Many companies backed by insurance determine how many moving violations that you can have within a specific amount of time. Some companies go back 5 years, but 3 years is common. And then there's the CSA 2010 that's out. Don't quote me, but supposedly there's supposed to be a "federal record" that's separate from your regular driving license record (non-cdl). The best thing for you to do is call the school and speak to a career counselor, or whoever handles prehire paperwork for students, and ask the same questions that you presented here. You will probably get better results. (The career counselor at the school that I attended directly called companies to ask about students' driving records whether they had a chance or not for a prehire.)

Worse case scenario, you may have to wait. But don't let that keep you down! :biggrin_255:

As a teen with a need for speed and a taste for fast cars and bikes...I had too many to list.

I was once clocked at 181 mph and was still accelerating...didn't get caught though. (that one made the local paper...with a reward for info)

    I've had 3 (IIRC) in a truck...65 in a 55, 35 in a 25, and 69 in a 55 (was actually clocked at 81, but he cut me a break)

Usually its a MAX of three tickets in three years. No more than 3 to 3.5 points TOTAL on record, and no more then 1 or 2 accidents in the last 1 to 2 years. Some want NO at fault accidents in the last 5, but it if wasn't your fault and it was 3 months ago, they don't care. The best thing you can do is just call the company and be honest. It's usually guidelines made up by the particular insurance company they have, and not so much what the trucking company itself decided.

ok so i went and got an offical drivers record from bmv today and this is what is one it

    2 points total on license
    speeding - aug. 28 2007 (61/45)
speeding - jan 15 2008 (under 15) not posted exactly what
speeding - oct 11 2008 (85/55) i know it dont matter but was a family emergancy and cop was a ########, just to let u know before the ignorant comments come.

    no felonies or mis. ever

so with this being said how would my chances in the trucking industry be? I said in last post 1 at fault accident but there was no police report so i guess its not on my record..any info regarding this would be great, i am really wanting to start a trucking career. thanks

If you do start driving trucks, let me know what roads you drive on so I can stay off those roads.

im just getting ready to go to school and i think on every prehire app i put in or looked at there was a 15 mph thing on the apps that would kick you out because it would be considered reckless operation by the companys insance company. State points arnt everything insuance can asign there own points for things and thats how they quilify there rates and why thay want to charge so much
