Hi guys....i bout a 2009 pete 387 with 500k 3.36 rears with cat c15 acert eaton 13. it came with 435hp. my first run from los angeles to seattle the truck mpg was 5.1.....horrible considering tje same load and weight with my 04 387 c15 acert does 6.3 - 6.7 avg.

I took it to cat to up rate the hp to at least 475 like my 04. we ended up going 550hp...and here was a "driver reward" perameter that was enabled....the tech disabled it saying it was a sort of resrraint....

Anyways..i still cant get over 5.2..i am very light footed and never go over 62mph..

This motor has dpf but that cant be the only factor as the ecm report shows lifetime 7.29 which in real world should be around 6.5

I plan on doing pdi stage one but any suggestions would help...

I figured that going from 435 to over 500 will defo improve mpg...but no..

The only difference is that the engine runs cooler on pulls and i can get up faster but no imrovement in mpg has got me stumpped

i installed a high flow muffler. i didn't really see any difference inside the muffler between the hi flow and the stock. other then a low grumble it certainly wasn't worth buying.

having the turbo rebuilt made a HUGE difference in my mileage. but i had the isx motor. where the turbo is supposed to spin at 45k rpms. and mine was only hitting 14k.

you also checked the basics, tire pressure and air filter

well first there is a world of diffenence in your motors. second after the programming did you figure your mpg or is that number from the ecm. options gateless turbo...single turbo..polished manifold....turbo blanket...all these are your big diffeence makers for mpg and power...

Snowwy, what brand high flow muffler did you get? Most standard mufflers I've looked inside have obstructions extending quite a ways into the airflow, while the high flow mufflers had smaller louvers or holes in the inner pipe. Unfortunately, I don't recall the brand names right now, hopefully someone can tell us a good brand to use to avoid getting ripped off.
Harmin, did you make sure the air filter is clean, you don't have any boost leaks from the cac, boots, etc., don't have any exhaust leaks before the turbo, etc?

What kind of trailer are you pulling and how much weight? Once you get the basic mechanical and maintenance items checked and corrected, I'd add Airtabs. Relatively inexpensive at about $240 for a kit to do a tractor or trl, I've run them on my own vehicles with success and talked to many other drivers who have had good results. Some applications will of course see better results than others, boxvans seein among the best results, flatbed results will vary depending on how the load is arranged, covered, etc.
Good luck and keep us posted :)
